In Her Words
"Don't be afraid to stumble and fall down a little, because often it is doing what scares you the most that offers the greatest rewards" - OTH.
This quote represents my journey with yoga. I have realized that you have to fall to walk, as you have to fall to find your balance. Finding the strength to challenge those fears, doubts, attachments, insecurities, etc. by learning how to let them go, to laugh them off, to find the spontaneous play, and the ease, within the hard work and dedication, has had the most profound effect on my life. Understanding that it is necessary to fall.
This journey started for me when I walked into a studio for the first time, curious about this "physical" practice, I made my way into a hot room, and never really left. When I'm on my mat I feel like I am home, my practice has been everything I needed it to be, when I needed it to be. I have had the privilege of training with some amazing instructors, who nurtured my curiosity and drive to be constantly learning and deepening my knowledge of this practice, and lifestyle. I teach so that I can help people to find whatever it is they need, in this moment, in their lives, and am so grateful to be a part of that discovery.
"The road is long, and in the end, the journey is the destination" - OTH.
Anatomy Instructor - Lisa Gaglione
Hello! And welcome to Higher Love Yoga Academy! I am so honored to be a part of your journey and to teach the anatomy content of the program.
In addition to being a yogi, I am a Registered Nurse with 10 years of experience in ICU, emergency and recovery room and a military Air Force vet. I am also a mother to two amazing, crazy boys and a wife to a man who I aspire to be like every day. Yoga came into my life during my two pregnancies with prenatal yoga. I know that it helped me get through the delivery with as little intervention as possible. I rediscovered yoga when a dear friend introduced me to Moksha Hot Yoga in Sherwood Park, AB. As my practice progressed I fell in love with many types of yoga including Sattva, yin, restorative and vinyasa. I have been practicing regularly since 2011.
My truest, deepest passion is using my yoga practice as a tool for mental wellness. I was diagnosed with PTSD a few years ago and never realized how debilitating the symptoms can be. I began to explore the other pieces of a yogic lifestyle which look much deeper into the ancient roots of yoga that focus on mindfulness. And what a journey it is!
I decided I wanted to do my yoga teacher training but knew that I couldn’t afford to do any of them! A friend of mine introduced me to Sara’s program and the rest is history. I completed my 200h RYT with Sara in December of 2017.
Teacher training with Sara encouraged me to revisit my life and really get to know myself. I realized that at 40 years old, I knew very little. The training is challenging and so very rewarding! You will laugh hard and you might even cry hard. The friendships you will develop will be life-changing.
Since the completion of teacher training I have taken an additional 100hr training through Yogafit Canada (Yogafit for Warriors 100h) that allows me to teach yoga designed for people with mental illness such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and sexual and /or physical trauma survivors. This is so very important to me and there are so many ways that yoga can help people suffering with these mental afflictions by addressing trauma through a bottom-up, body-based approach. I currently teach Cats on your Mats through the Edmonton Humane Society from time to time, provide classes at the Grey Nuns Hospital and volunteer teach at PAWS the Cat Café. I am currently working on bringing yoga for PTSD into various places throughout the city.
I am excited to share my knowledge and passion of yoga and anatomy so that you can safely practice and teach others to do the same.

Kristen Kulak E-RYT 200
I graduated my Yoga Teacher Training July 2015 but fell in love with yoga a few years before. A few months after my training I took the plunge and taught my first public class and made the realization then that I needed to teach, to pass on what I know, to be a guide, a life long learner through my students. There hasn’t been a class that I have taught where it felt like a job, there is always this feeling of pure elation to step to the front of the class and begin with just a breath.
I am a mom, wife and avid community volunteer and the busy life that comes with that I have always found time to connect with my mat and practise. It is through my yoga practise that I have rediscovered who I am beyond the labels that describe me. I prioritize me because I have realized that to serve my family, husband and community I need to be at my best, filled with energy and light, and taken care of.
Lisa Buckland - Meditation Instructor
Lisa is an RYT 200, accredited through the Yoga Alliance, and is currently studying 500 hrs through Soul Fitness. She has advanced training in Meditation, Yoga for Aging, Trauma, Philosophy and Teen Yoga. She has her 200 hr Meditation Teacher with Lifestyle Meditation. She is a Usui Holy Fire II Reiki practitioner and also trained under Georgina Cannon for Hypnosis and Past Life Regression.
Hi, I’m Lisa and my yoga journey began in drama class in high school. Our teacher incorporated movements throughout and at the end of every class was the relaxation (aka savasana) – My favourite! Yoga and meditation connected to my heart and in my life’s peaks and valleys it was there for me, sometimes in the background and sometimes right beside me. After completing my 200 hours with Sara at Wellness Within, I wanted to show others how to find this connection. To me, yoga and meditation is a way of coming home, a way of connecting to my true self and I am humbled by being able to help others peel back the layers so that they too can find inner peace and home. I am honored to be your Meditation teacher for your journey!
